We are living in a state now where the police control the campuses like an iron fist and allow no one to even demonstrate without a permit. We did not have a permit when we protested Vietnam. We did not need a permit to go on Freedom Rides. Martin Luther King gave his life for this freedom, and the young people of today take it for granted. Let's start something for crying out loud. Get active. Stop saying yes to the crap that comes out of the White House. Learn something about our history.
WWII was the only legal and christian war, because, at least, it fit the guidelines for a just war as given to us from St. Augustine. Everything else has been lies and inuendo, and no one is listening or holding our leaders responsible for their actions. They should be held accountable to the people of the United States of American. After all, this is a republic, isn't it?

1. There is nothing illegal about Iraq, Congress has authorized it.
2. There is no draft, so young people (or any people) don't care nearly as much because everyone fighting in Iraq joined the military voluntarily. Very different from Nam, when people were being drafted and sent to fight and die for a cause they did not believe in.
3. Radical Islam destroyed the Twin Towers in NYC, whereas no one in Vietnam was blowing up U.S. targets.
4. We have acutal economic and strategic interests in Iraq, more so than in Vietnam. (Primarily oil, secondarily dollar vs. euro backing of oil)

Whatever. Not all campuses need permits for demonstrating, and none that I know of. I'm sick of people saying young people take stuff for granted. Not all do, you can't generalize about people like that. And if some do? Guess what, they'll grow up. The older people that "don't take things for granted" today were the youth that did yesterday. And just because someone doesn't agree with YOU doesn't mean they are ignorant of history or anything else. And how about instead of telling other people to go do stuff why don't YOU go start something? Huh?

Why is it that our young people today are not out protesting the war in Iraq?>>
Dude, haven't you played the Wii? Much more fun than protesting!
It is an illegal war like Nam!?>>
Congress voted to send troops there. Therefore, its not illegal.

I couldn't agree more on your views. As for the question, poorly informed thanks to our media, fear because of the media and the Patriot act which now states some protest can be considered a form of terrorism. Another reason I think they have personal needs and goals that make it hard to find time for structured protests. They are complaisant because the actions of the government have not directly influenced their lives. Yet.
We need to take back America.

I was wondering about the lack of protests until I realized that things have changed. Just as you are now being heard by your post instead of shouting into megaphone on a college campus.

Some of us young people have different opinions.
And those who agree with you ARE protesting, perhaps not in ways that are as visible across the nation, but political groups and students are making a difference and making their opinions known.

regrettably, i'm questioning they (our present & former leaders) are all twisted up! i understand no uncomplicated answer yet we merely can't play by using the "rules" anymore while no person else does & that's what gets our butts kicked. we start to do something & do no longer end it. i think of the United international locations stinks! they are all corrupt & that's time for the uncomplicated individual to be waiting to be in the management seat. somebody without connection to oil, or somebody no longer attempting to kick butt to make dad experience greater effective. We do & will continuously could desire to stay steps ahead of the nut case terrorists & shield our land & human beings. The commerce towers became an act of conflict so we did have the region to guard ourself. It became now no longer "anticipation of self-protection"!

Actually there is NO draft so they can;t be called to go to war, and most of the young ppl who would protest, protest online on sites like this they spread their adjenda and keep their identity secret, why go outside and protest to 100 ppl when you cold stay in in your underwear and protest to the entire internet?
Also kids are just lazy anymore also fresh air, sunlight? not when the xbox is running LOL
