I"m just curious during that time whites mainly controlled governments and law. Blacks put pressure on them to make the changes for their freedom. If Blacks never were to protest and demonstrate. It seems the inequalities would still exsit to this present day. In other words whites have no problem mistreating minorities until so much of an uproar was caused that it was absolutley necessary to abolish jim crow and establish civil rights.

Undoubtedly without persistent and courageous black leadership most "jim crow" laws may well still exist.. Not to diminish what those of color risked and sacrificed, I would also submit that without the "white" freedom riders and protestors the entire civil rights movement may not have progressed as rapidly as it did.

Given your requested conclusion, I would like to say no, that Jim Crow laws would have been abolished. There were no mass demonstrations by paralyzed veterans and other handicapped people, yet we have the Americans with Disabilities Act and other rules providing rights for the handicapped. What the civil rights movement did do was to make Washington sensitive not only to the rights of Black Americans, but for the rights of all Americans. It is a better place to live in. I would like to think that Jackie Robinson administered the lethal blow to Jim Crow with his bat in 1947. It just took almost 20 years for Jim Crow to die.

Yes they would. Don't forget the theory of the survival of the fittest. Africans who survived the trans-atlantic ride into American slavery were tough physically and mentally. Even though mostly black folks stood at the picket up lines protesting Jim Crow laws, it was both Black and White folks working together that allowed Jim Crow to be abolished.
