Sometimes it's even as frequent as 1 1/2 hours!!?? Is this common? I can't get him to nurse longer than 10 minutes....usually it's only about 5 and he's a really vigorous nurser and he never wants the other side just one breast per feeding. When do they usually start to go longer between feedings? Thanks for any help!!

My daughter ate every other hour for about thirty min, until she was three months. I was worried that my milk supply was not enough, The call a nurse had me pump to see how much I could get, I got a little over eight ounces, and I had feed her 30 min before! It turned out that I was making enough milk, she was just a healthy eater. I said all of that to just let you know, that even if it's not "normal" it is ok. You can also talk to his Pedi. you may be able to start him on a little cereal, to keep his yummy full longer. Also, if you need a break from nursing, you can always pump a little everytime you feed, then your milk supply will go up, and you may be able to start to only nurse every other time.
I hope this helped!
Best of Luck!!

My son did this and the doc suggested that I use a pacifier as he was using me as one. He sisn't take to one and I ended up drying up by 3 months old. Thus he went to a bottle and I found out he was allergic to my milk anyways. Try the pacifier and see if you can put off his feedings longer so he will use both breasts each feeding. Good Luck!

My second son did that. I felt like he was hanging from me 24/7. He only did it until he was 10 weeks, but if your concerned that he may not be getting enough milk at each sitting, I would talk to your pediatrician.

Yes, it is completely normal. He may be going through a growth spurt right now. It should change around 2-3 months.

Sounds like he's a hungry lil' guy.
Call the hospital (or the baby's Pediatrician) & see if they could recommend someone who could help you out. Good luck!
