The link that Amy J. put above is really good, but you should read this one too

to understand the reality about ab exercise (all exercises, really) - you can't "spot reduce." What that means, is that although your ab muscles may be in great shape, no amount of exercise will reduce fat from a specific part of the body. So doing a lot of crunches won't take fat off the belly area specifically, except in the sense that increased exercise will help reduce overall body fat.

Most of my friends were in this position at your age and just a bit older. They all thought because (in your words) 'lil fat pudge' on their stomach. Now all of them are 17, all bulimic and very messed in the head.

So please, i'm begging you, don't ever think like this. As long as you are healthy that's all that matters.

Although I can understand where you are coming from. My suggestions are-

[x] Sit ups- Beyonce does thousands of them everyday and look at her tummy! I'm not suggesting that many, because it's excessive and I don't know about you, but I don't have the time!

[x] Running- It's great, it burns calories and fat all over!

[x] Swiss Ball Exercises- They tone and strengthen your mid section! www.gymball.com/exercise.html

[x] Yoga and pilates (although this brances off swiss ball) it's also great for your tummy- www.pilates.com

I'm pretty sure you have nothing to worry about but anyway try mixing cardio (running, cycling etc) with ab exercises such as oblique twists, situps...examples of these can often be found in health magazines or even cosmo..and if you have access to an exercise ball preform the core work on that as that will really work those muscles...good luck!
