I'm totally torn and wanted to hear what others thought. No haters please.

I think he's good. Before killing Dumbledore, he told him "Severus, please" and I guess that he wasn't begging for his life but asking Snape to take care of Harry.

Good question.

I think he may well turn out to be a good guy. There is nothing in the stories which definitively precludes this. The hating of Harry is a smokescreen, although the reason for this isn't clear.

I'm also reasonably sure that Dumbledore isn't dead. It's not too hard to figure out why. This is the one possible obstacle to seeing Snape as a good guy, and the clues are too great to ignore.

I don't think he knows himself....He is torn by his hate for Harry's father and his want to do whats right.... I don't think he really wanted to kill dumbledor but was forced to and i think dumbludor was expecting it...i think he will have to chose a side in book seven because he is still a wild card.

Good. He has planned everything with Dumbledore (who will surely return). Otherwise why has he helped Harry in the past?

I think he's probably good. I think there is some reason why he has to keep Harry thinking that he's a jerk, but ultimately that reason will come out and it'll blow our socks off.

He is neutral. His promises (and moral code) have placed him in a situation where he can do nothing without helping either side.
