Some people choose a preacher because they are ordained by God to bless such joining....

And, that sums it up...because the pastors are chosen men/women of God given the authority to cover and bless a marriage covenant...

Some people like to marry in a church-or a setting with a preacher-because of their faith in God. Plus, sometimes they like to have the big "picture" wedding. It's for memories too. Some people get married by officials of the state, because they just want to, or if they don't believe in God, and some people who do believe in God but want it small for the wedding, choose a judge, etc. to perform the ceremony. It's each couple's choice.

It can either be a justice of the peace or a preacher i believe or someone who is licensed to do this. I would much rather choose to be married by a preacher and in a church under God and around his people. God is the center of my marriage and he should be in any marriage.

I guess because they believe their marriage is a holy thing and they feel that God has joined them together. The swear an fidelity to each other through God. If God isn't in your thinking then an official will do the trick

Because that is their religious belief. They choose to live their lives according to their faith. Everyone has the right to choose to be married the way they want to be married...whether YOU understand it or not.

Anyone can have a legal marriage. Those of us who believe in God want the marriage blessed by God, so we want our marriage ceremonies held in a place of worship.
