I'm about due to pay my homeowner association fees, and I'm hard-pressed to see how and where any of these fees directly relate to or actually affect me (other than street-cleaners, which even there tend to be lacking in my area) and I'm wondering if it's possible to ever challenge your homeowner fees (legally or otherwise) and who you would need to contact to do something like this.

Thanks.

All I do know is that there are some old condos here and the fees kept being charged. . .and going up. . .and they "had" to pay a fee to keep a restaurant open and not much else was being done. Some owners went to court and challenged the fees. I don't know the outcome but know some of the people involved in the challenge will not take no for an answer. You do have the right to demand a viewing of the books and your association will have to account for how the money is being spent. They started by finding other owners that had the same point of view and it went from there.

HOA's were initially created to guard the fee of the community resources even as the subdivision is being equipped. The contractor ought to stress everybody procuring a house to maintain it in tutor case criteria so the unsold new homes will carry properly dollar. the placement is what you found. After the HOA is became over to the community voters, a set of nosy cranks are in fee and would make everyones existence a hell. HOA's Covenants also reduce the fashion of ability customers you would have once you pass to promote. everybody that has dealt with an HOA gained't evaluate procuring a house with HOA covenants. in case you do not pay HoA prices, they can record a lien hostile for your homestead for the prices and get the money once you promote your homestead, or in some states, they can sue, acquire a lien hostile for your homestead and stress a sheriff's public sale to assemble on the lien. You loose your homestead. Now you recognize why I actual have not in any respect, and not in any respect will, purchase a house with HOA covenants.

It is difficult to challenge these. Kinda one of those things that you agreed to them when you moved in. I am glad I never moved into a place that did that.
