i have not heard him say anything as far what his platform is.. what his plan would be for Iraq. or where he stands on anything for that matter. HOWEVER i do know that he endorsed a good for nothing Todd Stroger in Cook County Illinois who has proceeded to put nepotism in to effect by hiring his cousin at an exhorbitant salary while cutting social services to the poor and the working poor and seniors. also shutting down hospitals and clinic. If THIS person is what Obama supported for election I would never vote for him for prez (he will not get ther nomination anyway I don't think )

The Obama plan offers a responsible yet effective alternative to the President's failed policy of escalation. Realizing there can be no military solution in Iraq, it focuses instead on reaching a political solution in Iraq, protecting our interests in the region, and bringing this war to a responsible end. The legislation commences redeployment of U.S. forces no later than May 1, 2007 with the goal of removing all combat brigades from Iraq by March 31, 2008, a date that is consistent with the expectation of the bipartisan Iraq Study Group.

The plan allows for a limited number of U.S. troops to remain as basic force protection, to engage in counter-terrorism, and to continue the training of Iraqi security forces. If the Iraqis are successful in meeting the thirteen benchmarks for progress laid out by the Bush Administration, this plan also allows for the temporary suspension of the redeployment, provided Congress agrees that the benchmarks have been met and that the suspension is in the national security interest of the United States.

Not that I can vote in US or support any of the candidates, but I think Obama has a very good chance and that he is the "politically right" and "smart" choice. Think about it: He is African American, so he will have a better chance with black community, and also the white community that wants to show that they are ready for a black president. The other advantage he has is that he is Muslim so the Muslim community will support him. Having a Muslim president is also good for foreign policy because then Americans can show the rest of the World that they don't have any problem with Muslims.
