where and what can i donate money that i have in So. Cal.?

i have some money and i want to donate some of it to a good cause.where can it go to in southern California?I also want to donate to charity, but where can i give it to? please reply!!! i need help with it.

A homeless shelter that takes women and children would be my first try, A shelter or group home for abused teens or a shelter for runaway teens.
