All holidays have become too commercialized. But as far as no love in the air...well, I think there is love in the air everyday of the year. Some people enjoy it so I have no problem with it. Many marriages take place on Valentines Day and the brides would have it no other way. Perhaps they think the romance of it will hold their marriage together??? It does put pressure on others to find just the right gift or thought, which is a shame.

Yes, Valentine's day has become too commercial. In reality, I think it takes the spontaneity and love out of the day.

I think that society has overrated all the Holidays. There is so much commercialism. It's just ways to make companies more prophitable. Every day that we have is special and should be treasured. You give gifts all the time when you love someone. The most important gifts cannot be bought. LOVE, SHARING, HELPING, COMPASSION,etc. Aren't these gifts the best of all?

I think Valentine's Day is a lovely way to tell someone that you love how you feel. If you think it's commercialized, that's your problem.....I'm happy with a hug, backrub, and anything else that might not even cost a cent.

Any holiday is always commercialized but in the end it's ones choice to buy or not. I do agree however, that the more commercialized holidays become, the more materialistic it is expected to be. It overcomes the spiritual side of things.

I do a little and I AM in a relationship! I think it does bring couples closer because of the way we train our minds to think, but lots of commercialism involved as well.

it is really commercialized. Like many holidays these days, the retail industry has taken this holiday too far! It should be about the idea behind the holiday, not making people feel like they have to buy things to be successful in their relationships.

I agree.... very commercial and over-rated! My husband and I don't even celebrate it between each other anymore, but we still get our kids something small. But we make it a point to say I love you and do simple "nothings" for one another all year long.
