Yes. I have. Anna Nicole Smith passed away at the age of 39. The cause is uncertain, but most probably drug overdose.

Are you kidding? You must not have cable TV. That's all you hear...all day long! They are fighting in court over who gets to bury her....haven't said yet what caused her death, but are doing a criminal investigation in her room, etc.

The court case today looked like the beginning of the O.J. trial with the judge doing nothing he should have been doing in front of the cameras. Here we go again!

Last I heard they needed to wait for toxicology reports to come back in about 10 days, because they couldn't determine her cause of death when they did the autopsy.

No. The media has completely refused to cover this important person's death. I guess no one is interested.

First, it appears she went to the Bahamas to attempt to establish residency for herself and her daughter who would be born there, and eventually to escape the father of her child and related jurisdiction that might mandate a paternity test. She travels to the Bahamas with longtime lawyer and (editorial comment: “hanger-on”) Howard K. Stern.

Stern has been her lawyer and "friend" for about 10 years. He met her through the firm where he was working during the 90’s - ANS came to the firm seeking someone to negotiate her modeling contracts. Word has it that Stern became "caught up" in her celebrity and lifestyle. He eventually left the firm to represent her exclusively. He even appeared with her in a movie in the late 90’s titled Wasabi Tuna - - in drag. He had one other enterprise in Santa Monica: a co. called "Hot Smoochie Lips, Inc." No word on what the company does. At the time of her death, ANS was still his only client

At the end of 2006, the Supreme Court declared that ANS was able to pursue her ex husband, J. Howard Marshall's, estate for $474 million dollars. Stern had originally helped ANS in this fight for her share of the $$. He was working on a contingency basis. Stern’s sister says he has not been paid by ANS for many years. He has been supported by her parents.

Beneficiaries at the time the Supreme Court decision handed down: ANS, Son, Baby Daughter. Hmmmm.

Stern is listed as the “father” on the baby's birth certificate. The baby is named DannieLynn Hope Marshall Stern. The "Marshall" name is from her 90 year old ex-husband billionaire. After ANS’s death, someone points out that ANS's sister had recently published a book that implied ANS had salvaged frozen sperm from him so that she could later conceive a child. (Note: at least two other men have also claimed paternity – 1. the 59 year old “Prince” - a purchased title - who is married to a near-comatose Zsa Zsa Gabor, and 2. a former bodyguard for ANS.) Ha. If you have time, read the raucous report about how the Prince considered adopting ANS (she wanted to be a “princess”) at one time, but Zsa Zsa refused to sign the papers.

ANS’s son dies days after ANS’s daughter is born. An inquiry and hearing is scheduled in the Bahamas later this month to examine the circumstances to determine possible wrongdoing or negligence. His death was a result of a deadly mix of Methadone and antidepressants. ANS, Stern, the baby, and her son were all present in the hospital room at the time Daniel died in his sleep.

Days after ANS's son dies, Stern and ANS are paid by tabloids for photos of their "commitment ceremony" in the Bahamas. The ceremony was not legally binding, but after ANS’s death Stern says they had planned to “make it official” within a few weeks.

Note that, since the baby's birth, and the son's death, Anna had appeared incoherent in all interviews, barely able to speak. Her words were severely slurred. During each interview Stern is glued to her side, seemingly feeding her words to say.

Stern and ANS had traveled to Miami to pick up a yacht that they were buying so that they can travel back and forth from Nassau to Miami. They planned to return to the Bahamas by boat. ANS is not feeling well. She has been battling a "stomach flu" for several days. She spikes a 105 degree temp that morning. Instead of calling a doctor, a "private nurse" is instructed to ice down her body. Around noon, when ANS is discovered to be non-responsive, where is Stern? On the yacht, checking to be sure the plasma screens have been properly installed.

Bodyguard tries to revive her, 911 is called, and ANS is taken to the hospital where she is pronounced dead.

Police find numerous prescription bottles in Stern's name in the hotel room. Among the meds: Methadone, Valium.

Autopsy reports "no pills in stomach," but will take some time to determine blood content. Coroner notices heart inflammation. Coronary inflammation can be due to many things - among them, viral infection, prescription drugs.

NOW:

1. Was ANS a resident of Bahamas, or U.S.? Who will have jursidiction for all of the pending legal issues? Is the baby an American citizen? Sounds like citizenship is tied to parental citizenship.

2. Who retains interest in the ongoing Marshall litigation for $474 million? The daughter. Who will control it? The parent or guardian of the daughter? Hmmm.

3. Is there a will? Stern says there IS a will, written perhaps 10 years ago, while ANS's son was still alive. And Stern is the executor. It has been reported that the will gives him broad authority.

Real Estate/Residency:
Her expedited paperwork to establish residency has received criticism. Seems she was friendly with a high-ranking Bahamian official. After her death, photos of her and the official, in an embrace on her bed, were taken from the home where she was living in Nassau while ANS and Stern were in Florida. During the “break-in” photos were taken of her refrigerator, which showed cans of SlimFast, a box of TrimSpa, and prescription meds.

Citizenship in Bahamas is tied to real estate ownership.

ANS says an old boyfriend gave her the house in Nassau.

The old boyfriend says "no way," but he had agreed to sell it to her, and she had not given him the money, so there had been no closing of the deal.

Stern is holed up in the Nassau mansion at issue with the baby, his sister, and his mother, who have come "to help him care for his baby." He is also unable to sleep, wondering if the boat was placed in his name, and if the fund transfer took place prior to Anna’s demise.

ANS’s body:

ANS’s body is decomposing in the morgue in Florida, while two parties fight for possession. Yesterday, a judge says the body “belongs to him (the judge)” and he is in no hurry to make a decision. He wants to go through the legal issues “one-by one.”

ANS's mother wants possession of ANS's body.

Stern is interviewed onboard a private plane in route to Nassau from Florida, not looking into the camera, saying “what kind of woman (ANS’s mother) is she to do this (to fight for possession of ANS’s body)?” Says ANS's body will not go to ANS's mother, whom "ANS hated."

Paternity, and the Baby:

ANS apparently told at least two people close to ther that Birkhead is, in fact, the baby's father.

Stern is fighting paternity testing. Says he is the father.

ANS's mother concerned that baby is with the person her grandson and daughter were with when each died.

Meanwhile, Birkhead is still fighting for custody in California, and dealing with jurisdiction issues.

Stern will not speak to ANS’s mother, nor allow her to see the baby. She is traveling back and forth between Miami and Nassau, trying to do what she can to protect the child. Says she does not want custody of the baby, just wants to be sure the baby is awarded to Birkhead, whom she believes is the biological father. Says “Howard can keep the money, if that’s what he wants.”

Stern says to reporter on the flight to Nassau, “as long as there is a breath in my body, that woman (ANS’s mother) will not see DannieLynn.”

Baby is in Stern’s custody until at least February 22, while the fight for paternity continues. Birkhead’s attorneys request DNA samples from ANS to be certain no baby-switch occurs prior to testing.

Old ANS reality show footage was recently released where ANS says Stern is like “her brother,” and she says they “fight all the time.”
