I mean, their record sales are abysmal. They are without a 'genre' and country (CMT) doesn't want them. So why did they win?
I think it's pretty rotten that in order to make it in the "hollywood" community, you either have to (A) be a huge leftwinger or (B) keep your mouth shut and your opinions to a sliver minimum.
Does anyone else see the irony? Freedom of speech; except if you have morals.

I see the irony-freedom of speech, unless you disagree with Hollywood! Then you're a right-wing monster who is stealing the bread out of baby's mouths and destroying the earth to make a couple million dollars.
Can't really comment too much on the Dixie Chicks, though-their style of music (whatever it is) just bugs me, so I can't judge it fairly.

I was defiantly thinking the same as you. I have never even heard one single from their latest album on the radio.
This is a semi-loaded question and my personal political beliefs have no recourse on the types of artists I prefer. But I digress, they should not have won. They were not deserving of this award whatsoever. Also, Natalie Maines was so outrageously ignorant and egotistical when accepting the award that it just made me dislike them more.

I wouldn't say they do. Their songs are not all political except from the Not Ready to Make Nice, am I right? other song are just sogs, no political ideas in it, not that I see.

lol their sales are bad with the country markets but they have crossed over and are getting play in a lot of areas most CW acts do not...plus they actually put together their best work to date....AND HOLLYWOOD doesnt vote on the grammys its the those in the music business...which includes Nashville...

yeah i think i agree with you, even though i'm a liberal i admit it. freakin' hollywood... they have a liberal bias, i think because they want to seem like really nice wonderful people even though they're trash. they want to seem like grand humanitarians.
