Synchronicity is neat, but the album wasn't written for the movie.

I've seen the same effect with other combinations. I used to put on lounge music while watching tv, and switch to the music during the commercials. You'd be really surprised how often it matched perfectly.

One thing to keep in mind is that almost all poular entertainment is set to 4/4 time. If the Oz soundtrack had been composed of waltzes, this trick would not have worked.

no they did not. alot of people like to sync that record with the wizard of oz because there are alot of coincidences linked between the two. i cant remember the term for syncing a movie and album together but it has been done by stoners for a really long time and recently it has become a business for dvd companies. if you look it up you can actually find a movie called "the dark side of oz" where the album and movie have been already synced for you.
