One of the most probable answer to this natural order of things is due to lack of athmospheric condensation in New Jersey enough to generate snow due to or blame it on El Nino; for others some may say that snow clouds were blown out mid west.

i live in a place where the storms always seem to go around us, much like your kinda saying. we never get tornados or any other huge storms. towns to the north, south, east, & west always get hit harder than we ever do. Its very weird!!!
