I will be travelling to Singapore from Ireland next month for business - do I need a visa?

I know British nationals don't need a visa, I'm not sure about Eire citizens - if you do hold a British passport, make sure there are several blank pages in it otherwise you can have problems at immigration. Also, I believe you have to have several months still valid on your passport.

No, you do not need a visa. You would be granted a social visit pass between 14 - 30 days upon arrival. If you require any extension, you would have to apply to the immigration and checkpoint authority and can be done online.

Why not ask the Singapore embassy? The Foeign Office website http://www.fco.gov.uk/servlet/Front?pagename=OpenMarket/Xcelerate/ShowPage&c=Page&cid=1007029396086 has contact details of their embassy in London. Maybe the Irish Foreign Office can also provide contact details of the embassy in Dublin.

You will need a work permit if you going to stay there, but if its just a business trip, and you will return back to ireland then no you dont need one,
