I feel that BMW Sauber have been very impressive with the testing times. But the thing that people don't factor in is what kind of testing they are doing. Dry runs, low fuel, soft tires, is their car illegally modified for the purpose of testing ( they can do that and regularly do...) I honestly don't like looking into testing times too much because there are so many things that they don't know. For instance, last year, Ferrari didn't have the best testing times, and for the first 3 races, they didn't perform the best. But things changed when they came to Imola, San Marino.
Gremlins at Ferrari don't bother me. I would rather that they have it now, during testing, than during a race. Again, we don't know what they are testing ( it might be some hybrid part that might give them some performance gains but it is not necessary for the overall package. They still have some time to figure things out. Again, remember last season when Ferrari were having engine troubles ( random cylinders were going faulty )at the beginning of the season, and they figured it out and turned it around.
Now, about Mclaren. I have been a McLaren fan for a long time. When Kimi joined, he became my favorite driver. It absolutely broke my heart, during the 2003 and 2005 season that Mclaren couldn't give Kimi a competitive car. I don't think that Mclaren have the technical direction that Ferrari do. And I used to root against Ferrari, and now for the first time, I will be rooting for them. Do you think that the Tifosi have enough room for a former Mclaren fan? I do know the Italian anthem. I heard it 72 times ( the total wins Schumacher won with Ferrari...).

BMW Sauber and the duo of Kubica and Heidfeld have been the surprise front runners in the testing so far. BMW were quick last year in the low down force setting circuits (like Monza where Kubica came 3rd in only his 3rd race), but judging from their performance in Spain, they seem to be a real contender this year provided that their reliability and strategy are sound.
Fernando Alonso seems to have just picked up from where he left off. It's as if he hasn't changed teams! I was expecting him to have plenty of difficulties driving MP4-22 as his trademark violent turn ins in his Renault car really is something that raises eye brows. I'm pretty sure that this year's Renaults would be setting the top times if it was Alonso driving them.
I'm a bit worried about the Ferraris (being a Ferrari fan). They are not exactly blasting away the opposition, are they? Maybe they are just putting up smoke screens to confuse the others, but this long wheelbase thing?....I don't know...

Super Aguri was deceivably impressing, because it was actually the Honda Friday man, Anthony Davidson, driving the Honda RA106 (which is Aguri's interim car), the car he knows best. Overall, it must be said, BMW has offered a pleasant surprise. Ferrari is being plagued more and more by Italian levels of reliability, Renault is hiding its true pace for now (like in 2005 winter testing) and McLaren seems to have taken a step forward. But no steps forward are as big as the one made by BMW.

Christian Klien at Honda has surprised me a lot.
Tonio Liuzzi has done well.. I hope he continues to do well and get better. He has so much potential that not a lot of people recognize.
Also, Nelson Piquet, Jr just amazes me when I see him drive. He has future world champion written all over him.

BMW and their drivers are doing a really great job. even felipe massa admitted that they have been impressive. if i had to pick one driver, it would have to be robert kubica. all their drivers have been doing extremely well though.
