Only 2 de-sire because if you divide it into three, the third syllable is a schwar=er and a schwar is not a full vowel, therefore cannot be used in a syllable. If you are not sure think about dividing the word sire...see what I mean? PS. a schwa in linguistics is a reduced vowel like the a in about here it is a schwar because it's attached to an r = schwar.
