Yes. It is a holiday created for the commercial sector. Chocolate sales and jewellry sales go through the roof. It is definitelty a cash cow. Stores sell more jewellry for valentines day than they do for the rest of the year, even christmas cannot compare. It's funny how they can take a holiday with symbolic meaning, and commercialize it, like Easter for example. It is about the resurrection of christ, but now, they sell candy. How do you celebrate a resurrection by eating sugar? We now have a holiday for every month of the year. Isn't that convenient for the commercial industry. It is nice to get those days off, or work, but with overtime. That's the only bonus to some holidays, the rest just cost money. Oh, by the way, I do have a girlfriend, no I'm not single and just complaining. This is how I feel.

No and you don't have to either. Buy a bunch of flowers and hand them out to everyone- carnations are great and not too expensive. So what if you don't have a sweetie-
Perform a random act of kindness for someone...
Buy a package of Valentine stickers and hand them out.
Carry a box of Valentine conservation hearts and let everyone pick their own...
You can still have fun with out all the stress. Way better. What ever you do will because you want to and it will all be a guaranteed success. It's more fun to B single on V-Day. It's also considerably cheaper. Have fun. Be blessed.

After all, they've been conditioned to expect a gift and we've been conditioned to give them one. If I was a woman, I'd be all about Valentine's Day.

I don`t hate it, I just think it`s another day out of 365. Too commercial; If u love someone u love them everyday not just Feb.14th. You should be buying flowers, candy, trinkets, etc for ur love one throughout the year, not just that one day.
