My bath tub gets clogged so often, is there a way to put a filter so that all the dirt gets stuck in the tub instead of internally in the pipeline.

it's hair. bathtubs are famous for this. A different strainer may help but it won't cure it. Hair always finds a way to get down the drain. Get some drain cleaner that contains concentrated or virgin sulphuric acid. Whenever the drain gives you a problem pour some down, it will dissolve anything organic. Follow the directions on the label exactly, this is strong stuff. I get it at Lowe's, about $8 a quart.

Most of the answers given have stated the major problem: HaiR! Short or long, thick or thin, hair gets down the drain and is the culprit of most clogs.

The strainer that others have mentioned is necessary - for aLL drains! The stainless one others have mentioned, fits exactly into my kitchen sink: I wouldn't be without it; I've given one [or two] to every friend and family member! [WalMart, $2].

The above purchased strainer, tho, does not fit into my shower drains. Therefore, I removed the drain pipe cover [two screws] to allow placement of a
circular piece of wire window screen. I simply cut a circle from an old window screen, and keep it placed over the drain, with the actual drain cover over that.
You will be amazed what it catches! And because it catches so much, it needs to be regularly cleaned - or replaced; So, I don't screw down the actual drain cover, but just leave it loose, tho in place, over the piece of window screen. It's the all-important Preventive maintenance! Point is, do whatever it takes to keep stuff - especially Hair - from going down any drain.

There is a plastic disk that you can put over your drain. It catches all the hair and keeps it from going down the drain. Let is sit out on the edge of the tub, when it dries it's easy to clean. Just throw away all hair and dirt. You can find them anywhere in the plumbing/bathroom section of your local Walmart, Lowes, Home Depot. There only a few dollars. They're Great!

Yes go to your local hardware store and tell the clerk what you need. A tub drain screen will cost abut 2.00.

Pour a cup of bleach down the drain to help clear out the hair and dirt, but most importantly buy a perforated drain screen cover for your drain.

Hardware stores have little stainless steel "baskets" you can pop in most drains to collect hair and other clogging materials.

If your drain screen is flush with the tub, it likely has a screw you can remove to get this cover off. Then the basket should fit in its place.

The condo management will want you to have a plumber inside your unit to see if the problem is there, at your expense. If not, then they have the responsibility to call people to check the sewer lines that lead from the building to the main line in the street. You are only responsible for what's inside your unit, not what's outside. My guess is that the problem is in the line from the building to the main pipe, tree roots or broken sewer main. Ask others in the buildings if they are having the same problem. If your unit is on main floor, you would be first to have the problem. Get right on it because pretty soon your toilet won't flush or it will overflow.

Just keep a little Clorox near the tub and pour a cupful down the drain after every use. It is hair and soap that is clogging, and the bleach will dissolve it.

give the pipes a good plunging once a week...you may need to call a plumber anyway, if the plumbing was not installed correctly, it may never work properly.
