"If your name is Barack Hussein Obama, you can expect it, some of that. I think the majority of voters know that I'm a member of the United Church of Christ, and that I take my faith seriously," Obama said in an interview with The Associated Press.
"Ultimately what I think voters will be looking for is not so much a litmus test on faith as an assurance that a candidate has a value system and that is appreciative of the role that religious faith can play in helping shape people's lives," he said.
What do you think?

.. gah i just put up an article i saw about him and you make insinuations about what i think about the guy. If you want to know my motivations for putting up this article ill tell you and also say your Way off base. I think Mr Obama may be what the US needs right now. I think his talk of unification is EXACTLY what we need right now. His stateing his faith is important him was important for me to hear. I think his only downfall may be his inexperience..some of the more seasoned politcians may tear him apart which would be a shame.
There you go.. now quit jumping to conclusions.

I think he has intelligence and integrity, two qualities that have been missing in the White House for the past six years. I think he's in a unique position to unite us as Americans and help us remember that we are more alike than we are not alike. His speech at the Democratic National Convention covered many of the ways that we are the same, and I have liked him since I heard that speech. I think we need someone to bring us together--the way we were right after 9/11--after these years of the most extreme polarization I've ever seen in our country.

I think he has a very diverse background and I see that as being in his favor. I am not as concerned about his religious shaping as you are. I think God gave us all a brain and I wonder why more people don't use them. I don't want legality and morality mixed together and I don't believe I have the right to enforce my religious beliefs on anyone. So I have a vote for separation of church and state. That way you can believe as you like and so can I. . .

Duhh? If if it's the name that gets you , You have a real problem. A name in this case is not a problem. It is the person you should be concerned with. His merits, qualifications you know? What he thinks about certain issues is more important than a name.

That it's sad his name should even be a concern, that people would not automatically judge him by the quality of his leadership and position on issues.

I believe that Obama will be embraced by religious leaders, including evangelical christians, and this is very bad for neoconservatives.

I have seen Mr Obama wearing a tie with a cross on it and I liked it. I like a man of faith, hopefully knowing your actions will be judged bring a since of wisdom. My biggest sticking point on him though is his progressive policies and belief in free trade.

I think America is too republican to ever vote for Obama for president. Of the 40+ black members of congress, 100% of them are Democrats.
There is no black republican holding any national office. Republicans simply will not vote for a black person.
His name doesn't help, but it wouldn't matter if his name was John Smith, they would never vote for him.
