OH, WHAT A TECHNICAL PROBLEM YOU'VE CREATED FOR US HERE:
0 and 1 are digits for sure.

But you asked what IS 0 and 1; not what ARE 0 and 1 -- suggesting perhaps that you're asking for the sum of these two integers - in that case, the answer is 1.

But If you're asking for a definition, or a description -- the 0 and 1 are digits

And if you're asking for a function or purpose or a description of their use --
Quite possibly, they are Binary Digits (the only digits in a binary system). They are certainly binary digits if you've seen them in a technical computer or electronics context with no other digits.

What is 0 and 1 ? The first answerer is correct....numbers.
Another way of seeing it is 0 + 1 = 1.
Other ways of seeing it ....... I do not know :)
