It's all about having fun, it isn't rocket science. Enjoy what you can do, learn as you go. It's a lifelong instrument, not something to happen overnight.

I probably wouldn't "fake" it. That cheapens what you ARE able to do and builds bad habits. Work on your strengths when your playing with others, and try to learn from mistakes which happen.

Above all have fun!

I play 3 instruments, two of them being piano and guitar which i self-teach. For piano, the best self-teacher book is THE OXFORD PIANO METHOD, t.e.n f.i.n.g.e.r.s. sure it is a bit childish but it only took me an hour and a half 'till i could play a full page piece with both hands. For Guitar and chord book will do and go on youtube to find the strumming methods. it is also easier if you start with scales on the guitar so search that up on google, then you are familiar with the notes. After that, get a book with tabs for some familiar tunes in it. i got 'The Big Acoustic Guitar Songbook' it was only $1 on ebay!

Don't fake it but play what ever you want. I am just the opposite I am bad at chords and have a hard time going from chord to chord but I can solo for days. So just do what you feel. Well have fun and just practice. I practice chords and chord changes and I don't use them.

It's called punk. You can do whatever you want with guitar, but if you want to be a good player that musicians respect you must move on to more chords and scales.

Bob Dylan didn't get to technical and is amazing, check him out.

hell, that's how most musicians start, and the only thing punk musicians do, haha

most songs are just simple chords over and over. like many beatles songs are easy to play.

as long as ur having fun playing, it doesnt matter wat others think. though if u want a lot fans, try power chords. any note can be made into a power chord
