My period is always on time, and I never have weird spotting or anything. For the past week or so I've had really tender breasts. According to my calendar, I'm not supposed to get my period for another four days. Yesterday, all day, I had really light pink discharge... at the time I thought it might be implantation bleeding. This morning I woke up with worse cramps than I've ever experienced, going around my whole front and back. I went to the bathroom, and the pink discharge was still there, but about a half an hour later I had really really heavy bleeding, but a different color than usual. It was brown/pink instead of bright red. It bled like that for several hours, and then went to the normal red color, but is still really heavy. Am I having/did I have a miscarriage?

Women have miscarriages all the time and never know it. You probably are or have had a miscarriage, I like to think of these very early miscarriages as God's way or sparing a baby that may have some kind of abnormalities. These are the ones we are never really meant to know about. Or of course, you might just be having a bad period. But if it is a miscarriage, no need to do anything. The embryo is gone and didn't leave anything behind. It would still be microscopic, so there is no need to go out and get the treatment that someone who is months pregnant would need. You may want to see your gynecologist in the next couple months for a checkup, especially if you want to be pregnant, there may be a little something wrong there that would cause your body to reject pregnancy.

I miscarried at 14weeks. I got pregnant a year later and I'm now the proud mama of 2 beautiful babies. MANY women have miscarriages. It's actually believed that almost all women of childbearing age will have a miscarriage at some point, but it may be so early they don't even know they were ever pregnant. A single miscarriage is no reason to suspect problems with future pregnancies. I know you're going to be paranoid anyway (I certainly was) but your chances or a successful pregnancy are just as good as anybody's.

I had a similar experience but my period was late when I had the heavy cramping. I described my experience to my doctor and he said it was probably a miscarriage.

Miscarriage in the first few weeks is actually really normal. Try not to get too upset about it. When the fertilized egg starts to divide and develop into a baby there are so many things that have to happen in just the right way. If the cells don't divide correctly or the conditions in the uterus are not quite right the baby can't grow and the pregnancy will end in the first few weeks. Most women are not even aware that it is happening.

If you are worried about the heavy bleeding talk to your doctor or a nurse.

It is really hard to say but you might want to ask your doctor just in case. Mostly because if you are having a miscarriage you will want to make sure that everything is expelled and the doctor can assist with this.

I think you just started your period earlier. You might have ovulated earlier than usual therefore your period would be earlier. I would call your Dr. if you are concerned.
