(15/8) - 4.3x = (4.32 - x )/ 1.5

1.5*((15/8)-4.3x)=4.32-x

45/16 - 6.45x +x = 4.32

45/16-4.32 = 5.45x

x = (45/16 - 4.32) / 5.45

x = -0.2766

For this problem I would first distribute the "/1.5" into the parenthesis on the right side to get:
(15/8) - 4.3x = (4.32/1.5) - (x/1.5)
now subtract (15/8) from both sides
- 4.3x = (4.32/1.5) - (x/1.5) - (15/8)
add (x/1.5) to both sides
(x/1.5) - 4.3x = (4.32/1.5) - (15/8)

since dividing by 1.5 is the same as dividing by 3/2 is the same as multiplying by 2/3.. change x/1.5 to 2x/3 and then to 20x/30

also change 4.3x to 43x/10 and then to 129x/30

20x/30 - 129x/30 = (the numbers you can do on a calculator)
-109x/30 = (some number)
multiply both sides by -30
109x = -30*(some number)
divide by 109
x = (-30*(some number))/109

First, change 15/8 to 1.875 so all numbers are in decimal form. Then multiply both sides by 1.5. Then you would have the following equality:

1.5(1.875-4.3x) = 4.32 - x
This equals:
2.8125 - 6.45x = 4.32 - x

Then you need to isolate x on one side of the equation by adding 6.45x to both sides of the equation:

2.8125 = 4.32 + 5.45x

Then,l subtract 4.32 from both sides of the equation:

-1.5075 = 5.45x

Lastly, divide both sides by 5.45:

x = -.27661

You can check by substituting this value into the original equation.
