I'm supposed to go Wednesday for 2 hours and I still don't know what songs to sing or play on the guitar. Any help?

I can't write songs worth crap and I'm just having this recording done so I can send copies off to recording agencies.

Okay, vocal range of Carrie Underwood, Martina McBride, Jaci Velasquez. I love country, christian, and rock.

Last detail addition, I hope. Just to the person who said something about American Idol reject, there is nothing wrong with that. I didn't even make it to see Simon, Paula, and Randy. They just want ratings. Ok there's my rant for today.

I agree with some of the other posters. You need to write your own music....a young boy once said "you are nothing unless you write your own songs".
But, if you must sing something that is Pre-recorded I'll help you out. However, I'll need you to tell me your style and the certain song you are going for. I can only help if you have a more of blues, rock, jazz, country, or folk sort of sound.
Edit:
Practice and you'll become much better at writing. Don't think "inside the box"...it doesn't have to rhyme or even have the normal pattern of a song.
Anyway, some songs....everyone loves "Shooting Star" by Bad Company. It is originally sung by a man, but a woman can sing it. Just adjust the tune..
A lot of Janis Joplin songs show off vocal range....the most popular being "Piece Of My Heart", but I suggest going with something not so well known. "I Need A Man To Love" may work.
Joan Baez's "Diamonds and Rust" has a good guitar, so if you are looking for that then there you go!
Lucinda Williams is great....her best song is "Drunken Angel".
And, then Maria McKee's song "If Love Is A Red Dress" is a really good song to show off your voice...probably the best out of the bunch.
I don't listen to many female singers, but I hope I helped some. Download the songs I mentioned and choose which you like best.
Good luck!

Sing anything but Chasing cars by snow. That's a horrible song. I'm sure the person who recommended that was one of those rejects on american idol or something. Also do not sing We used to be friends. That's a very cheesy song.

I suggest 1 original, 1 upbeat tempo and a slow song. My neighbor is a country music producer who's worked with Carrie underwood , rascal flatts ,reba and many more. this is what he told me to gave the exces a range of what you can do .

I'd love to change the world by Ten Years After.
How about From the Beginning by Emerson, Lake and Palmer, It would blow everyone away if you learned the finger picking style in the intro to that song.

You should write your own. What's the point of doing something that's already been done?
