Possible genetic outcomes of a cross.

With a Punnett Square, you already know the gamete genotypes -- the square is basically a fancy way of putting the different genotypes in your mind and crossing them to see which possibilities you get.

The answer is A. Punnett squares tell you how a cross SHOULD turn out (i.e. what the ratios of different offspring should be) not what will actually happen. Punnett squares are related to meiosis, but they do not tell anybody what the actual products of meiosis will be. Rather, a punnett square uses the known products of meiosis to help determine the identity of the offspring. Punnett squares don't say anything about mitosis.

the punnett square is used to determined the genotype of the phenotype by using the mandel second law of segregation.
