My friend has told me about some paoltergeist activity they are having at their home. I would like to research the home and land to find out the history of the particular location their home is built on (who lived there and so on - there is a particular name that's been brought up and want to see if it was a person that lived on that location). Where would be the best place to start gathering this information? Thanks!

Oops! That should say "poltergeist activity". (Why can't I use the edit option?!?!?!)

You can start by going to your County Register of deeds and begin a title search. Also your Tax assessor and Count Trustee. You can get about all the information you will need from these 3 offices and there should be no charge at all and most places the people working there will gladly assist you in helping you go through their records.

The best place to start would be your town records, you can also find some information in the local library's newspaper records if you know what and when you are looking for.
