If I reload the software onto my computer and link my IPod, I believe I will lose all the songs on my IPod. Is there any way around this?

I've seen people recommend a program called iDump for copying songs back to your computer. It's a free program. I haven't used it, though, since I keep everything that I put onto my iPod stored on my hard drive(200GB). You might have some luck with that. Just do a search for iDump.

It shouldn't cause you to lose the songs on your iPod unless you wiped out the hard-drive on your computer. You should have a folder called "iTunes" in your "My Music" folder. All of your songs should still be in there.

If you disconnect your ipod and already have all your music on your ipod it will not delete the music you have on there. Just fix your computer, and make sure before connecting your ipod you make it so itunes doesn't automatically update. Do it manually.
