Yes - I would agree with the London Eye to see London city : but if you want picturesque greenery, then head for Greenwich Park or Hampstead Heath - both offer great views too. Or if you want simple pretty, parts of St James' Park cant be beaten: water, gardens and Westminster Abbey and Big Ben behind ! Nice classic view.

Contrary to the comments made by Epidavros, a trip up in the London Eye will show you what a green and historical city London really is - you will have views over some of the many London parks, over the historical Westminster area and along the Thames in both directions.

London has a host of places to view. Do the tours and then get out to the country, no more than three nights in London.

The best place to view London - without a doubt is at the top of Primrose Hill. Not only is it the prettiest park but it also gives amazing views. It gets used loads in films (Four weddings etc).

Afterwards, go down the little high street for a coffee and a bit of celeb spotting!

London is far from being a pretty city.

The London Eye will give you a great view, but will probably rub in the fact that you are looking at a pretty ugly landscape.

Greenwich Park is much prettier, as is St James' park (which would be my choice). And you will get some good view walking the Thames path from London Bridge to Westminster.

From the bridge over the lake in St.James's Park, or from outside the Royal Observatory in Greenwich Park. The view from Alexandra Palace is the most comprehensive in London. The view from Waterloo Bridge, both ways down the Thames is also excellent.

On a clear day you want to go to the top of Hampstead Heath, you can see most of London and it looks amazing. Another place is Primrose Hill, you can see for miles at the top. Its a gorgeous park and is close to many attractions in London.

For the best view, go to St.Pauls Cathedral where you can go to the top of the dome to the golden gallery (right at the very top of the dome) The view is amazing, and you dint have to queue or pay £15 for the privilege
