It is normal. You have experienced a loss, and losses need to be grieved. That's how we all survive, and are able in the light of a new day to pick ourselves up and move on.

I am reminded of a friend who wept inconsolably when her dog died. A lot of people rolled their eyes saying "its just a dang dog" but I understood her grief, she had lost something that gave her comfort, happiness and companionship for many years. Of course it was appropriate for her to grieve too.

Keep it in perspective. One chapter of your life has ended, but a new chapter awaits you, so get ready and get excited to turn the page, when you are ready.

Yes, it's normal I think. But let me tell you, a couple of years ago I was laid off after working at this same place for 5 years; I really liked the job, and I loved working at this particular place; but, to my total surprise, I was not at all upset with losing this job. I had some money saved up, so I didn't really needed the money right away - so I made the best of it, and took 2 months off to stay in my family (they are in another country) and to travel a bit. When I came back, I found some freelance work, and was freelancing part-time for a while; it was really great. This was the year I met my husband, and at the end of that year both of us went to visit my family. After I came back, I decided it was time for me to get a full-time job again, so I called around letting people know I was looking for a job - and, whaddaya know, my old work called asking me if I wanted my position back! LOL So, now I'm back working at the same place again, and loving it. Never would have thought.

Don't despair, something will come your way, just take some time off and do fun things.

Of course, we are all human and a lose of anything we appreciate or will miss not having anymore will make us sad. I wish I could be this compassionate about my job though..lol...

I would suggest go looking for another job similar to this because if you enjoyed it this much you were more then likely really good at it!

Absolutely not! You sound passionate concerning your vocation and work. I'm betting you didn't step out of HS. and land this job. You have pride and emotions. So do I and I'm a man does that surprise you?

Yes, I'd say it is perfectly normal. I'm glad you are financially able to survive though. Count your blessings.
