Let's say, my roommie, just got back from a weekend trip, This past weekend, i had the whole dorm room to myself and loved it. It was so peaceful and quiet. But alas he has returned. You know when I heard the door knock, I just though, oh crap. God I"m going to miss the peace and queit.

Is it wrong to feel, sad when my roommate returns to the dorm room?

Nope. Privacy is highly underrated sometimes. I remember feeling that way; I eventually moved out into a studio apartment by myself.

But then a year later I got married and I've not actually had more than ew hours by myself in the past 20 years.

I have a wife and three children and I feel the same way after they come back from a weekend at mothers. It's not the real you that is feeling that way because its not about them being there. Its merely about the transition. You dont mind if they come back, its just that you are still relax mode and dont feel like transitioning back into the company mode again so quickly. You spend so much of your time thinking about all the things you can do and all the rest you can get that when they return, you kinda feel like a kid who's vacation just got cut short and its time to go back home and deal with the regular family routine. Its nothing personal,... its just a transition that came along just a few moments too soon.

It's understandable to feel that way. Sounds like you need some solitude at times. Perhaps if you can't wait until your roommate leaves again, you can find a place to spend some time alone.

Not at all - I love it when I get some peace and quiet and I'm always just a little disappointed when it ends. You're fine.

It's not wrong. I use to feel the same way when my roommates came home. As long as you two get along then its okay to cherish your alone time too.

No, you have a right to feel whatever you feel. Just don't let it affect your relationship with the roomie. He doesn't need to know you dread his return.

No I think that's pretty normal, especially if you have a loud roomie. Sorry about that.
