I know a lot of people ask this, but I just really want to know. I'm 13 and have a really low self esteem/confidence. (Are they the same?) I've got 4 sibs, all of which are beautiful and talented. I really feel like I missed something in the gene pool espically when I'm around my little sister. She's only 10 but she's pretty, popular, smart, athletic and semi musical. Whenever I'm around her I feel really bad about myself. It also doesn't help that she makes fun of me a lot and when I get back at her, I get in trouble. My older sibs are really cool and I like them a lot, but the age span between us is 6, 12, and 15 years, so I don't see or connect with them a lot.
I've really tried gaining confidence on my own, believing in myself and stuff, but whenever I try it, it only works for about a day or so, then I break down and cry for a long time. I really have bad feelings about myself, and I know I'm not my sibs, but I can't help but compare myself to them. Please don't just say get help

Don't compare yourself to other people. Try to think about what you do well and concentrate on that. I'll give you a start. You write very well for someone who's 13. You also seem pretty mature for your age. One more thing, don't worry too much. The more you dwell on negative thoughts the worse they become.

find something you are good at. make friends that support you.

instead of seeing your self worth through the talents and accomplishments of others, why not just enjoy the life that god has given you?

you are young and you should enjoy your life. dont waste one more moment feeling blue.

i also think that you do have future talents and future accomplishments ahead of you.

the bud of a rose is unassuming, but when it grows it opens to reveal beauty. you are a bud about to blossom. let things naturally unfold. a chick about to hatch from the egg can often feel frustrated. you are likewise in an incubation period. very soon you will feel happy and free.

All people have talents... most just never discover their strengths.
The quest is to discover your talent(s). Once you know your talent, you start to develop and grow and your confidence will sky-rocket. Take part in as many activities as possible until you find your niche.
