How big a dog? How big a bag? Some people actually use cotton balls as an at-home treatment when dogs eat something sharp; you feed them to them so that they wrap around the object, saving the dog's bowels. If it was too many, though, she may not pass them. If it was a dog over 45 pounds, I would go and buy a can of canned pumpkin and feed it to your dog mixed with cooked brown rice. The fiber will likely push them right out of her system. It won't be pleasant, but she'll be fine. For a smaller dog, go see your vet. They could block the intestines, so its best not to risk it.

Yes. When the petroleum jelly passes through your anus it also helps lubricate that area for easier penetration.

I cannot imagine eating petroleum jelly for any reason. If your insides need "help," drink cod liver oil or mineral oil.
