HELL NO! I'm African American and I don't use that word PERIOD!!!
No one should be called a word that demeans their entire being, no matter what nationality.
What's sad is that a lot of the blacks from the last generation have carried over that word as a term of endearment and the youth are just following in their footsteps.
I showed the documentary "The N Word" at my college where it's predominately African American. What blew me away was the large percentage of people who said that it's just a word and doesn't mean anything.
WTF is going on with African Americans and this N word? Richard Pryor vowed not to say that word ever again in his material and he received hate mail from a lot of BLACKS for that. Isn't that disturbing????
In no way has the N word ever been invented to mean anything good for African Americans yet we as a nationality throw it around like a high five.
And what's so funny is that we'll buy a 50 Cent album that has the N word in every sentence of his lyrics before we'll buy a book on Marcus Garvey.

No i dont! matter of fact i think it is very disrespectful to use it in public bc other people have to hear it and that doesnt even associate themsleves with that word. but then the black people that use it in public gets mad when another race calls them that word out of anger. then its a whole different story.

Personally, I think black people degrade themselves and disrespect thier ancestors when they use that word by keeping it alive. I'd like to see it fall completely out of modern vocabulary.
Usually I would understand taking a negative concept and making it positive, but given the history of humiliation and suffering, I think it's best to make an exception.

using such a word so a serious lack of education and a large amount of ignorance by any race. Just think How MLK would feel about that- How hard he fought for it to be still used.

yes, they are entitled. i, being a white person, am not. however being a homosexual, i am entitled to call myself or friends any of the derogatory words that people have ascribed my kind throughout the ages....as another poster said. it lessens the impact.
