Why are the grammy's so out of touch with good music? Is there an open-source equivalent to the grammy's? No good artists ever win.

Grammy's not irrelevant. She always bakes cookies and tells me how much I've grown even though I've been the same height since junior high school.

Well it depends on what you consider to be "good" artists. If you like over-the-hill, past-their-prime artists OR the same three artists collecting the top honors of the night, then you'll LOVE the Grammys. I'm just glad U2 didn't make an album last year or else they'd collect 10 more Grammys.

The Grammys are for rich, celebrity - conscious folk in the music industry.
Don't you worry your sweet buttocks about the Grammys.
It's mostly a TV ratings thing.

Good bands do win before the actual TV show starts we miss quite a few awards being given out.

There are the American Music Awards, and there are the Billboard Music Awards. I don't know how the AMA's are selected but they are more in touch with today's music. And the Billboard awards are chosen by the people. Every album or single sale is one vote.

All awards shows in the entertainment industry are irrelevant. It's an opportunity for the rich and famous to publicly pat each other on the back.

It holds no meaning for the average person. Not for me, anyway.

Your statement itself is out of touch. This has been a wonderful year for music, and so many of my favorite artists are up against each other it is making it very difficult to watch!

Its a joke. The decision on who to give awards to is purely commercial interest. Jack Johnson is making the best music at the moment.

Don't patronize these modern emo-type artists. They are fraudulent and phony with a song coach, mixing/sfx studio, and they don't write their own lyrics either.

It's all about who makes the Academy the most money.
