Any one been to Jordan? How about Palestine? My friend is moving to Jordan in June and she wants me to go with her. And I am going to go to Palestine while I am there to see my husbands family. I don't know the city in Jordan that I will go to, but in Palestine I am going to Quaryout, Nablus. I am nervous to go becasue I have never traveled on a plane and have never been to that part of the world. Any one have any stories from there?

I speak Arabic and I dress in Hijab, so I know I will fit in. My husband family is all in Nablus, and I have heard stories from my friend who I am traveling with, when she went there to see her husbands family. She said the only thing to do is sit and wiat for some one to visit, or to visit someone.

I know both countries, Jordan ( Amman the capital) is a very nice and modern city, I hope you are going there, if you are not going to Amman, make sure you wear decent clothes, people outside Amman are very simple people, most of them speak only a bit of English, but they are really nice and welcoming, be prepared to eat a lot cause this is their way of welcoming a guest.
I've been to Nablus too, it is a very old city, people there are stuck in there cause they cannot move around the cities of Palestine ( Israel won't allow them ) so, basically they are bored people who have little work to do, they spend their time just greeting and talking to each other, but there is a very special thing a bout the city, the old Souk is very nice, people are nice too, and they love to eat too, try the Nabulsi Kunafa, the famous sweet they prepare, but don't expect to find any restaurant or 5 star hotels , it is a small old and simple city.

I have been to Jordan, it is a fantastic country. People were very friendly and helpful in Jordan. I went to Aquaba, Wadi Rum and Petra. All excellent places.
Aquaba is a wonderful town with great restaurants, markets and a nice beach. Very easy to get around. It is hard to describe to someone who has never been to the middle east - it is different to western cities, more friendly, open street markets. You will feel comfortable walking around. People help you when you ask. Remember to haggle about the price.
Wadi Rum is a beautiful dessert, I would reccomend a visit if you have time. My husband and I stayed in a tent there for a few weeks and we met some of the beduins who live in the dessert. I have never met friendlier people in my life. They drove us to a very special cave where we could put up our tent, and made us beduin tea and played the Uud for us (a kind of guitar).
The long distance buses are different - the driver don't leave before the bus is full, so we had to wait a few hours. Cars readily take up hitch hikers - again much friendlier than what I am used to in the western world.
I have never been to Palestine - only Israel (but I don't agree with Israeli politics, it is disgusting what they are doing to the Palestinian territories). But I think you can expect Palestine to be a lot poorer than Jordan.
Don't be nervous about travelling on a plane - it is quite fun. You can watch movies, and they serve you food and drinks all the time. Just remember to stretch your legs often, and bring a good book.
I am sure you will have a great time in Jordan - but you will probably find it a bit more chaotic (in a good way) compared to the western world. Hope I will go again some day : o )

hi, that's probable because of the United international locations portion of "Palestine" mandated to British rule 1921 to 1946. in case you look on the map of that administered section, you will see that interior it Jordan became then suggested as Transjordan. This British Mandated section then suggested as Palestine, comprised each and all the portion of what on the instant are: The State of Israel. The Palestinian Territories. The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. i'm hoping this helps. Regards, Robert.

As long as you are not terrorist your trip should be fine. Be aware that your husbands family are probably cold hearted baby killers who enjoy a good suicide bombing.
