I have to say that the best first Valentine's Day present is a picture frame with a picture of you and your boyfriend. Have a simple at home dinner with roses on the table. It's a classic!

Valentine's is just a day were people pronounce love, repronounce love, or (the ever popular) break up of love in a relationship.
I wouldn't suggest doing all the love-themed or love stereotypical crap that people advertise for money. Real love shouldn't have a price- mentally or literally.
love comes in many forms. The best kind for me is having a little more "fun" along with the people (for parties or double dates) or person I care most about. Nothing is perfect and no one should expect it to be, so just have an extra good time, romantic or not.

Just spend the day with the one you love
Have a romantic dinner and cuddle up after wards and watch a movie

-cook dinner in for your date
-take a romantic walk
No date:
-send your friends funny valentines
-have a girls night out
-have a chick flick night

Do you have someone to celebrate with? It isnt really a solo holiday. Dinner, candles, oils, chocolate covered strawberries..a night in with no distractions.

if you dont have a date or anything then be nice and lots of people that you care about gifts like flowers choclates or a teddy bear
