Cricket is a bat and ball sport, played between two teams of eleven players each. A cricket match is played on a grass field (which is usually roughly oval), in the centre of which is a flat strip of ground 22 yards (20.12 m) long, called a pitch. At each end of the pitch is a set of three parallel wooden stakes (known as stumps) driven into the ground, with two small crosspieces (known as bails) laid on top of them. This wooden structure is called a wicket. A player from the fielding team (the bowler) bowls a hard, fist-sized cork-centred leather ball from one wicket towards the other. The ball usually bounces once before reaching a player from the opposing team (the batsman), who defends the wicket from the ball with a wooden cricket bat. The batsman, if he or she does not get out, may then run between the wickets, exchanging ends with the other batsman (the "non-striker"), who has been standing in an inactive role near the bowler's wicket, to score runs. The other members of the bowler's team stand in various positions around the field as fielders. The match is won by the team that scores more runs.
Cricket has been an established team sport for hundreds of years. It originated in its modern form in England and is popular mainly in the present and former members of the Commonwealth. In the countries of South Asia, including India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka, cricket is the most popular sport. It is also a major sport in places such as England and Wales, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Bermuda, and the English-speaking countries of the Caribbean, which are collectively known in cricketing parlance as the West Indies. There are also well established amateur club competitions in countries as diverse as the Netherlands, Kenya, Nepal and Argentina, among others; there are over one hundred cricket playing nations recognised by the International Cricket Council.
The sport is followed with passion in many different parts of the world. It has even occasionally given rise to diplomatic outrage, the most notorious being the Basil D'Oliveira affair which led to the banning of South Africa from sporting events. Other examples include the Bodyline series played between England and Australia in the early 1930s, or the 1981 underarm bowling incident involving Australia and New Zealand.

Cricket is a field game originated in England before 1700 and is now popular in Commonwealth countries.Basically it is played between 2 teams of 11. A pair of batsmen from 9one side defend 2 wickets, one at each end of 22 yd pitch. The other team act as fielders. A hard ball is is "bowled" or thrown overhead with a straight arm at the defended wicket from the other; the batsman tries to hit out into the field to give himself time to score by running between wickets. If the ball strikes his wicket either directly or while he is running, or if he is caught off his bat, he is out. When all the batsmen are out the teams exchange functions and the innings ens; a game consists of not more than 2 innings per team. The side with most runs wins and the game is drawn if the innings cannot be completed.

itsa game like baseball but not same. 11 players for one team. two team in action. cricket played in two type. first "test cricket" second "one day cricket". test cricket is old form and one day is new. both r going on. one day is quick and with result very very less chance of draw so, itts more popular than test cricket.
now, how it played....initially 2 captain of each team decide through coin who will bat first or field first. the team is in fielding is with all 11 player in ground and opponent teams 2 player is in bating. now one bowler throw the ball the batsman has to defend and make run. run can be make various way, if batsman hit the ball over the boundary draw around the ground through white line it means 6 runs, if ball pass through boundry and before that if he hit the ground 4 run. except this, player can run on opposite side to make the run but he has to reach there before ball arrive and hit the stump. now this two batsman rotate there position at every over or when they score run by running, and also defend there wicket, if they r out, other batsman take place at that position,so, in this manner one team complete 50 over in one day game ( one over = six time bawler deliver the ball to batsman) in 50 over whtever run they make other team has to chase that target. so, show goess on like this , and i try to explain basic idea here.
