Oil/filter were changed at commercial oil stop. When I start Camaro lite comes on, then I turn car off and back on and lite stays off. Oil stop says they didn't touch any oil sensor but I never had the lite come on before they did the work. I checked my oil level and it's fine. Is it a coincidence the sensor goes out the same time as the oil change occurred?

Wow, I sincerely appreciate your answers. No, the oil was Pennzoil 10W30 mfg recommended, and the warning "low oil" comes on when car starts (I also have oil gauge which reads normal). Is there an oil sensor near where the service guy changed the filter and drained the oil pan? They say it's not their fault & I'm going to see the general manager tomorrow to argue they should replace the sensor. Do I understand the sensors can be reset & not necessarily have to be replaced. You guys have given me more info tonight than the two websites for professional mechanics I've visited. Thank you.

I own a shop, and have worked on cars all my life. I have seen this problem before. It is in fact what the oil change place did!!! You have the wrong oil filter on your vehicle, or the valve is not in the filter that prevents it from draining back. This is why I will use nothing but what comes on a vehicle. If it is a Chevy, then use AC/Delco, If its a Ford then use Ford only. The cheap oil filters don't have the drain back valve in them, and when you start the engine, there is little to no oil in the filter, this causes the engine to start up with no oil pressure, thus it will cause your problem.
Glad to help out, Good Luck!!!

it most likely has to do with the oil change . you should just have the sensor fixed re set. it may also be that the oil pressure is low if you dont have a separate gauge or light for that they can use the one light for both.

Are you sure you are not talking about the oil life monitor "yellow" light that comes on when you start the car?, if so, They never reset the oil life monitor system. They dont reset themselfs.
