HP makes some of the best laptops on the market. In fact they have won many awards for some of the best laptops. 2 gigs of ram is really good for that price by the way. 160 gig hardrive thats ok. see if you can get that upgraded. music takes up tons of memory. Dell makes great laptop as well. Make sure that your laptop come with microsoft word and not microsoft WORKS. WORks believe it or not is not compatible with word. This makes it hard if you want to every transfer files onto another compter. That HP sounds great to me. Go for it. Dont work about the battery any way. anything above 3 hours or so should be fine if you are using as a desktop replacement.

This a pretty good laptop. You should buy it. Just look for a good graphics card also. As for the battery don't use it as often. If you are also a mac user i suggest you go with a mac otherwise buy this laptop.

Dell is a good laptop, and they also own Alienware now! Alienware computers were made by Clevo, which still makes great laptops, so maybe you can try them?
SEE: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clevo (there are USA suppliers that sell Clevo laptops at the end of the page at Wikipedia)
