This may be one the "dumbest" questions ever asked, but why are most of the back pocket's on men's pants (the wallet pocket) now on the right-hand side? For most of my adult life (now 62) they have almost all been on the left side. Which is where I perfer it when I purchase pants for myself.

Maybe you're buying from companies who are scrimping. Most all the trousers I've ever purchased, and I'm 70, have rear pockets on both sides. I quit carrying a wallet years ago when I was in europe and the pick pockets were so numerous. I carry a small card case in a front pocket and a money clip in the other side. The only thing I carry in a hip pocket is a handkerchief.

The wallet pocket for me has always been on the right side as that is what I prefer since I am right handed.
I have never seen pants with only one back pocket with the exception of some sweatpants.

In cases where there are two pockets, most men use the right one because they are right handed. Though I am right handed, I prefer not handling my wallet more than necessary. It is simpler to handle the wallet with my left hand and manipulate it with my right hand. Others handle the wallet with the right and and transfer to the left hand to continue manipulation with the right hand.
As far as fashion goes, who knows. I buy them with both pockets.

depends on what kind of slacks you buy. Maybe for the first half of your life you sit on the right side, then the left side for the rest of your life. Maybe this gives you a sense of balance, and makes your hip & back re-align
