I don't know what wrong with their relationship, but I think she so badly wanted to have a new image that she buried her past behind her and followed her dreams probably because she was ashamed of her past.

All she sees is dollar signs! I have been looking at Anna Nicoles genealogy and all I have to say is no wonder Anna Nicole was the way she was! Her mother Virgie Tabers had Anna Nicole (aka Vickie Lynn Hogan) at age 16 and she had already had one baby! The baby born before Anna Nicole was a child that she had with her step-brother, David Luther Tacker, son of step father George William Tacker of all people. According to Texas marriage records she has been married to at least 5 people (Donald Hogan, Donald Hart, Joe D Thompson, James T Sanders and James H Arthur!) and she is 55 years old! Anna Nicole didn't live with her mother growing up. It is documented in Wikipedia that she lived with an aunt. There must have been some degree of disfunctionality there. Ole Vergie had 3 children with three different daddies. At least Anna Nicoles bio father had all of his remaining children with one woman!!
I can't believe that she went down to the Bahamas to stake her claim on her granddaughter. According to Wikipedia, Anna Nicole was raised by her aunt, not by her mother. Why couldn't she be a mom to the three kids she had with three different men? I would say that giving any kind of custody to Anna Nicoles so called mother would be detrimental to that innocent baby. She failed her own children, what makes her think that she can be any kind of role model now?

I answered this yesterday, but I will answer it again. Her mother was a sheriff or something. Anna started stripping in a nearby club. Her mother threatened to have the club shut down if they continued letting her strip. so, she started stripping in a nearby county and her mother couldn't do anything about it.
Her mother wanted what was best for her daughter, but you know how daughter's rebel. She then met her 86 year old boyfriend from the strip club. Mom definitely didn't approve of that.
They eventually didn't speak because Mom didn't approve of her daughter's decisions. That's when Vicki Lynn became Anna Nicole and I don't think she had anything to do with her mother since.
In my opinion, mother knew best and she didn't like it.

My guess is that her mother never agreed with the choices that Anna Nicole's made throughout her lifetime. Once Anna Nicole mad it big, she probable shunned her family because their greediness probably came to surface. Enter Howard K. Stern...the man who handled all of her business deals, and was in the shadows of all of her tomoltous love affairs. I believe that while he may have claimed to love her, he certainly did nothing to keep her off drugs and show her the right way. When a person is manipulative such as HKS, he probably did alot of convincing to Anna that he was all she needed.

i would say the reason anna nicole smith didnt approve of her mother because she wasnt sensitive enought to anna.but i guess she loved her.after all theirs a very thin line between love and hate .

Well, she called her mum fat and mommy dearest!! She was pretty upset that day!! There is something that happens when one of the kids make it in life, coz then everybody in the family starts thinking that the well to do kid is a money pot. All of a sudden all the family problems are piled up on that one person and they have no idea that the other person has issues too.

That, we'll never truly know. She probably let the fame get to her head and she let it wreck her so much that she didn't let her mom have a part in her life.
