virus wise and government wise?

No. If you are using it it would be a good idea to have a virus protection (like AVG) and only have it open while you are using it. Also removing your files from your shared folder would help.

Is lime wire safe?!? How can i explain it the way i look at it? Hmmmm... Ok, say you saw "Fast Eddie" on the street and he sells watches...sometimes you bought yourself a "Rolex" (which is very common), and sometimes u might get a "Bolex", something u werent expecting (like a wrong labeled file or virus in disguise). Roll the dice...choice is yours. Just remember, you dont know what a complete stranger has in his shared folder. But there is a ray of sunshine at the end of the tunnel thanks to "Bitzi". Always verify the contents of a file with a "bitzi print". "bitzi" will tell you what other people have found out about the file you wish to download. If there is no reports on that particular file, then you are basically taking the file hosts word.

no actually its not becuase if you dont knwo what your doign people from limewire can acsess your computer, meaning personal files and credit cards and give you virsus, so i havent use it ever sisnce i heard of this and i knwo its true because its simple, its a p2p meaning peer to peer softwear so the files you are getting from someonne can be infected adn copyrighted, many people get causght with ileggly getting music and get sued up to 10,000$$ and limewire opends up ur computer when ur downloading files from limewire and other people can search your computer for personal files. So bascily NO LIMEWIRE IS NOT SAFE.

I have used limewire before and nothing weird happened. I had multiple virus and spyware blockers on my computer though. I definately wouldn't run it without anything. It can slow down your computer though. I took it off after a while because it was running slow.

To prevent the gov't from seeping into your computer I would use PeerGuardian. As for viruses, it is not safe. Any file-sharing program has that risk.

And just to save yourself I would spent $$ on buying mp3's instead.

It's been fine for me, but my only advice to you is to NEVER download anything under 2000 kbs.
It's a guaranteed virus. D:

I have been using it over a year and no problems...I love it. Just make sure you have antispyware and run it regularly just to be safe.....that should catch anything that gets on...
