In order to answer this question you need to use the equation for slope. That is

m= (Y2-Y1)/(X2-X1) All of those numbers are subscripts.

You have two points (0,8) and (9,4) we will call the first point point one, and the second point two. Remeber points are in the from (x,y) so X1 is zero and Y1 is 8. So that means X2 is 9 and Y2 is 4.

So if we substitute we get
m=(4-8)/(9-0)= -4/9

That is your answer.

Use the same equation for the others.

The formula for slope is: (change in Y)/ (change in X). In this case f(x) is just another name for Y. So the Y's in the ordered pairs would be 8 and 4. and the x's 0 and 9. Change is also difference which can be found by subtraction. So you subtract the two x values and the two y values from eachother: (8-4)/(0-9)= (4)/(-9)= -4/9. you can subtract either way as long as you are cosistent, so 8-4 and 0-9, or 4-8 and 9-0. the slope for the ordered pair at the top would be -4/9.

From the way I see it, the numbers underneatht the x and the f(x) are a series of points that make a line, correct? Now to find the slope of that (mind you that if the (0,8) and (9,4) are included into the table of points this won't work. I'm assuming there are two separate problems, and hopefully, my assumptions are correct)
the differece between each number on the f(x) side is 9. (8--17), (1--8), (10-1). 9 was added to each number to get the next. On the left side where the "x" are, 0--9=9, 9-0=9... This side also goes by 9's. So then we use the formula, change in y over change in x as we did above. 9/9=1 giving you a slope of one for that line made up of those points. I hope that helps

Well, I won't give you the answers to each set of points, but I will tell you how to determine slope.

Slope is the change in "y" values of the change in "x" values.
