oh yea listen to Ski Dawg, "he's incompetent of being a NFL head coach", he has a winning record as a head coach. I think it's like 13 or 14 games above .500 while the others have no coaching experience except for Norv who has a very bad record as a head coach. Norv is a coordinator and thats all he'll be.

Dallas runs the 3-4 defense which Wade runs himself. he's done good with the 3-4 and Dallas has invested the last couple of years drafting and signing players for the 3-4. they didnt want to suddenly change again back to a 4-3 it would have been like the last couple of years have meant nothing.

they wont sign another coach after Wade they're gonna make Jason Garrett their man and everyone knows this.

Parcells suprise resignation kind of threw a monkey wrench in the whole deal and left the team scurrying around for a new coach. I really question the hire because I just do not see a playoff berth next year. It just seems like its two steps back. So what if they have Terrell Owens, he's a good player and all but how he will respond to Wade is the real question. Sometimes he makes a fool of himself and that causes unwanted media. Other questions are the defense because it looked rather flat in the final games of the season that the team should have won. And the penalties last season were exasperating because repetitive false starts and.pass interference calls kill a team. The schedule also note there are a few teams they struggle with like the Philadelphia Eagles which trounced them both times, the Seahawks who beat them in the playoffs off a fumbled snap. Lastly the New Orleans Saints which was the heartbreaker of the season for the Cowboys. I don't see them improving on their record from last year. Instead they will come up short again on a Super Bowl.

I hate the Cowboys, but I agree 100 percent with the signing of Wade Phillips. He is a very good coach and every team that he has gone to has gotten better the following season. He is familiar with the 3-4 which is good for Dallas. I have also heard the theory that Dallas hired him instead of Turner because they want to develop Jason Garrett. Turner calls all of his own plays so he wouldnt have worked out. I would rather have a proven winner who just hasnt gotten it done in the playoffs than a coach who wouldnt even get me there.

Yup. The Cowboys didnt need some big name coach. They hired a big name coach in Bill Parcells 6 years ago and that didnt work out too well. Wade Phillips is a players coach. All his players loved him in San Diego. The Cowboys dont need a tough disciplinarian to whip them into shape. They need a guy who can get from being a wild card team, to a Super Bowl winning team, and Wade Phillips is a guy who can do that.

No...They should have hired Norv Turner...who ironically got screwed by Daniel Snyder, owner of the Redskins, the same way Tom Landry got screwed by Jerry Jones when they bought the teams...Turner made the Redskins competitive...Phillips has been in Buffalo...and failed...and Denver (with Elway) and failed...but then again, if Phillips screws up one season, they could let him go and hire Bill Cowher if he is getting back into coaching...as he suggested he is just taking a break...

...and...Patriot fan here...I don't know where the poster is getting Bellichick as a candidate...the Pats will let go of him when hell freezes over...

Absolutely not. He's the new Barry Switzer. Except Switzer had more leftover talent to ride to the Superbowl.

Phillips was chose as the anti-Parcells. Parcells caveat was that Jones not mess around with the team. Parcells made it abundantly clear that if Jones wanted him to coach, that Jones would have to keep his hands and ideas to himself.

Phillips on the otherhand is a 2 time loser as head coach. The dude is desperate to get another shot at a head coaching position. He'll bend and bow to whatever crazy ideas Jerry Jones throws at him. He sucked up a crappy contract to become head coach. And he said that he looks forward to working with Terrell Owens, which either makes him the dumbest head coach in the league, or the biggest liar.

Phillips has familiarity with the 3-4 defense. And he's a white guy. (Minority interviewees that interview with Jerry Jones spend more time waiting outside his office than they do actually interviewing.) So Phillips caucasian-ness and familiarity with the 3-4 gave him 2 huge advantages over Ron Rivera. It is absolutely crazy that Rivera wasn't named a head coach this year. Nuts.

And the problem with all those coaches you named is the fact that they aren't going to let Jerry Jones tell them what to do. Jones has been forced to keep his hand out of the cookie jar for the last 3-4 years, with NOTHING TO SHOW. If Jones team is going to continue to be mediocre, it's going to be mediocre on his terms. Hence puppet boy Phillips.

To answer your question: no, Wade Phillips should not be allowed to coach anywhere, let alone be the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys. He's already proven - twice, in Buffalo and in Atlanta - that he's incompetent as a coach.

I think they should have hired Turner instead, but I was happy when I heard they hired Phillips because I am a Niners fan.

Jerry Jones = Al Davis
