I work for a major fast food chain as a General Manager so I have more insite into this I think. I do not think that you should feel embrassed when you order your food special. I do think however the people that act like total a**s when we do make a mistake should be embrassed. We are only human after all and have you never made a mistake before at work or at home. And in respone to the person who said that it is usually a 16 yr old making and they don't care. I employ seveeral teeenagersand they do care. They are from poor families and have to work to help out they unlike you know the vaule of hard earned money. I wish my adults had the same perspective on life as them.

You are not alone! I'm allergic to tomatoes, and people don't understand why I can't order food as is, and just pick the tomatoes off. Hello? Tomatoes are dripping in their own juice and seeds, and why should I spend the rest of the day with hives, if I can just get the food without the stupid tomatoes?!!! :D And I'm sure you get the people who do the whole eye-roll thing, while they're waiting. Paleeeze! lol!

I know exactly how you feel, I'm almost apologetic when I have special requests. But my pet peeve is when i go to a fast food restaurant with my husband. He never knows what he wants before hand, he has to look at the menu board for five minutes while I tell the kid taking our order to wait. Like hubby doesn't know what foods McDonalds serves by now?

I wouldnt feel embarassed at all. I do try do keep my order the least complicated as possible though. If the order was too complicated I would be leary about them getting mad and sabataging my food somehow. You know like spitting in it, sneezing in it etc. That is why I never go to places to eat near closing. Those people are ready to go and will get mad at the last minute customers.

You shouldn't feel embarrassed, that is what the people at the resturants are there for and plus if you make a special order you have a little better chance of getting fresh food.

Why feel embarrassed? You like what you like and your spending your hard earned money on it right? BTW you are actually smart to "special order" A lot of fast food places like that hold food longer than they are supposed to by special ordering you are more likely to get a fresher product.

Go to BURGER KING and "Have it Your Way!"
I feel bad sometimes, but at the end of the day you are paying for a service and you should get what you pay for...just don't be snobby or rude about it when you place your order (they might do something to your food).

No, never. The (any) restaurants responsibility is to give the customer (you, me) exactly what thier request is. Whenever they get mine wrong in any way, 99 times out of one- hundered I get the food corrected as I ordered it and a major discount off the bill, if not the entire order for free.

Why feel embarrassed? You are simply asking for what you like--you ARE paying for it right? You pay for the food, which keeps them in business, which pays their salary.
Special orders may get you a longer wait, but it also ensures hot food! I do it all the time.
