i want top connect my ps2 and my pc (and both using the internet at the same time)to my cable internet modem but i dont know if it will work

At first, you say that you want to connect your PC using the USB cable. That mean that probably your PC doesn't have a network port or that your modem doesn't have more than 1 Network port. Ok, you can use a router (But this will give you more complex configuration), or you can use a simple hub and connect the Modem to the hub and your computer and the PS2 to the same hub. This will allow you to use both on your computer and on your PS2. Now the only problem in using this method is that if yuor modem doesn't have any type of firewall your computer can be hack. But here where I live (Puerto Rico) most of the cable modem have their own configuration including firewall and all those good things. Anyway this is the easier way to connect both at the same time and spend less money than buying a router.

Get a router... run your cable modem to the router, and cat5 to both your PS2 and your PC

or get a crossover cable bad thing about this is the othe pc has to be on and connected to the internet But it will work

you spoiled little $h!t. you can get a usb wireless receiver for a desktop. i'm sure the ps2 thing will be simple to install...
