Smith his a good young QB. Even though hes been in the league for two years, he is still 22 years old. It was very surprising to see how good he got after his first year.
I think next year he will even be better, being the first time he has had an offensive coordinator for at least two years. I think he needs a better receiver to throw to, Bryant didn't really cut it for me last year.
People look at hi as a bust, but I think he will come along next year and have a pretty good career.

Alex Smith will be a great player. They won't be a contender in 08 for defensive reasons and kinks on the offense, but they will be very good. They need to keep getting Alex Smith out of the pocket and with a healthy Vernon Davis next season the west coast offense will be a good one. Frank Gore can also help any QB. In the draft, look for the 49ers to maybe go offense if Duane Jarret is still available.
