Congratulations for maintaining first place in the Horoscope section. (I am in the seventh place) I always read and appreciate your answers. Keep it up.
This is of course a very good question.
Many people think that astrology is just a time pass and the answers are made just with guess, they seldom understand that it takes time and energy to work deep an horoscope-especially according to vedic system! Hence they demand FREE READING.

Since it's for entertainment I see no problem. Is anyone being asking for money in the other sections? If you answer a question about history or where a good restaurant is do you expect to get money? Yahoo answers is not a place of business. No services are to be offered, that is a violation of the rules. Opinions are the only thing offered here and that is all that's given.

That is a tough one, in that we are all on here giving our expertise for free. Some people probably charge alot for their time in the "real world" yet come on here and give free legal, marital, accounting, and IT advice just to name a few other catergories. So, I guess that being your expertise (I am assuming) that is what people want from you. I don't know exactly how much time and effort goes into a reading, again assuming it is alot since you are questioning it, I can only suggest to you to answer those people you want to and leave the ones you don't.
Hope this makes sense and helps.

I think it may have more to do with believing there is any truth in readings.
Most people are willing to pay for reputable informaton. If they want it for free it's just to see what you will say, not to get information they feel will be true.
Paying for something doesn't mean you appreciate it more. It does mean that you feel the information is worth paying for. Maybe the people asking for free readings are doing it for fun, not serious responses.

Because they're generally hurting, frightened, and have no where else to turn. Let's face it, nobody seeks help when their life is rosy and all is going well. And why should you care?, it's not like you're able to give legitimate advice anyway; all you do is copy and paste from other people's websites. You don't know the first thing about astrology and couldn't give a real reading if your life depended on it. From you it should be free because you don' t know what you're talking about without quoting a website. And "astrologers" like you are dangeous and give the legitimate ones a bad rep. And a true astrologer does give their gift for free because what goes around comes around. And when GOD GIVES YOU A GIFT, you use it without looking for material gain. Because it does come back to you.

I think they want to see if its real before they pay. The one I used wanted practice so that is what she got out of doing a free reading. If you do want a free reading there is a girl that post on here that offers free readings on her and done great with mine her email is rider_waite_tarot@yahoo.com ... Email her and give her your first and last name and birthday.

I think it's because most people see it as just for fun, and need more than one accurate reading from the same person to begin to believe. There are so many frauds out there, I wouldn't want to pay to support a fraud, but it's such a shame you are being unappreciated for doing this for people, whether they take it seriously or not, they could at least thank you for it, sheesh, some people...

I don't know if it is appreciated or not because people come on here and offer there opinion and some people get offended. I give my feelings in my honest opinion and how I truelly feel and what I would do and what I think I don't get paid to do this.
