Dude i know how you feel
you friends most likely dont see you as the acting type and all the popular kids might make fun of you if you screw up!!
tell you clostest friends your idea and practice in front of ppl you can be yourself around to get some imput on your acting skills the hopefully good feedback will boost your confedence
-also if you audition just remember that this is what you want and if others think you stink its just because they are jealous(trust me)
if ppl make fun ignore it and when you DO perform in that play look at the haters when you act give them the eyes saying oh you kno u wish you could do this good!
---good luck--god bless!!

The best way to get confidence is to do the thing that makes you nervous. What's the worst that could happen if you tried out and were not accepted for the play? Will there be other plays to try out for in the future? Imagine you are setting up to interview potential new friends. You would let others know what you are looking for, and hope many show up. Suppose many do apply, yet none would be for the 'best' friend spot? You'd still have plenty of others as friends. Then a shy gal who wonders if anyone would actually like her, applies and hopes for the best. You are so happy she took the time to see you. Today you are best buds. Basically to find out how you'll do...you just need to take the first step and just show up. Because life is like a play, and the ones showing up get to be in it. It's your choice if you're a supporting player of the star of your own show. Now get going!

You never know until you try. Look at it this way - what's the worst that can happen, you go to try outs, you don't do great and you dont' go back. Big deal. Or you go to try outs, do fantastic and get the part! But you'll never know if you don't try. Give it a shot, I'm sure you'll be fine and at least you won't have any regrets.

watch a couple people try out to get some ideas, and go with a friend. consider whether you'd rather mess up a little or never try and always wonder! it's natural to be nervous, but everybody is at first. you can overcome this...just try. courage is having fear and overcoming it.

Just do it!
Forget about your worries and do it.
You are probably nervous because you worry what people might think of you - well, nobody cares really. Do you care that some girl in school organized charity event? I don't think so.
You overanalize things that don't need to be.

Believe in yourself and think of positives, like how the audience is going to love you.
